Questions about this tour
How is this different from a standard Northern Lights bus trip?
This scheduled tour travels in a small group of up to 14 by Supertruck. An Icelandic storyteller guide chooses the route using current conditions, shares local stories and takes aurora portraits when the lights appear.
Does the scheduled tour really use a Supertruck?
Yes. The scheduled vehicle is built for winter roads and can reach suitable dark-sky areas that may be difficult for larger buses. The tour stays on legal roads and access routes.
Can I arrange a private Superjeep tour instead?
Yes. Norse also offers a private Northern Lights outing in a modified Nissan Patrol Superjeep. Contact the team if you prefer that experience to the scheduled group departure.
Are hot chocolate and aurora photos included?
Homemade hot chocolate is served on the tour. Guides use professional camera equipment for guest portraits when the aurora and conditions allow, with edited images delivered digitally afterward.
What if we do not see the Northern Lights?
The original guests on the booking can ask Norse by email to join another scheduled Northern Lights tour free of charge until they see the aurora. The retry does not expire, cannot be transferred and depends on available departures, the season, weather and safe operating conditions.
What happens if winter weather is unsuitable?
The guide monitors aurora activity, clouds, wind and road conditions before departure. If conditions are unsafe or clearly unsuitable, Norse may postpone or cancel the trip; rebooking and refunds follow the applicable policy.
What should I wear, and how does pickup work?
Dress for a cold evening outdoors with warm layers, waterproof clothing, gloves, a hat and insulated boots. Blankets are provided, but clothing rental is not included. Pickup is available from many Reykjavík locations; restricted streets may require a nearby permitted stop. The outing usually lasts three to five hours.
